    RECYCLING FACTS

Here at Liberty Paper, we recycle every day. In fact, our in-plant recycling efforts earned us the Governor's Award for Pollution Prevention!

Here are some of the things we do:

  • Each year, LPI keeps more than 200,000 tons of old corrugated cardboard (OCC) out of landfills.
  • By working with our division, LDI Fibres, which collects OCC, we close the loop in the manufacuring process. LPI recycles the OCC into linerboard, supplying raw materials for another LDI company, Liberty Carton Company, Golden Valley, which manufactures corrugated boxes.
  • By consuming 200,000 tons of recycled paper as a resource during the manufacturing process, approximately 3.2 million trees are saved annually.
  • LPI works with companies that retrieve, separate, and grade wood pallets for reuse or recycling and annually as recovered over 400T of usable wood from pallets.
  • By recycling old corrugated boxes as furnish to make new corrugated boxes, LPI is saving approx. 560,000 cubic yards of landfill space annually - An average person generates approximately 200 lbs. of corrugated boxes per year.
  • By reusing or recycling its 380-gallon plastic chemical totes, LPI has kept 864 of the totes per year out of the waste stream.
